How to sell sponsorship on your body for a race

Updated

Selling sponsorship on your body means brands pay to have their logo on you for one race, worn as a temporary tattoo or printed on your kit. On SponsBody you list spots on a 3D model of your body, brands buy them, and any brand can take a spot over by paying 2× the current price until bidding closes 7 days before the race. You're paid after race day.

This guide walks through every step as SponsBody works today. The prices, fees and deadlines come from our code and our terms. SponsBody is not affiliated with HYROX or any other race organiser.

What you need

  • A race more than a week away that you're entered for. You must be 18 or older.
  • One to three photos of yourself in training kit, ideally taken by a friend.
  • Your social accounts, if you want brands to see verified numbers. This is optional.

Step by step

  1. Step 1: Check your race's rules and terms

Race organisers decide what athletes may wear and whether they may promote other businesses at their events, and the rules differ between events and divisions. Read your event's rulebook and the participation terms you accepted when you registered. If they don't settle it, ask the organiser in writing before you publish, and keep the answer. Our terms make this your responsibility.

  2. Step 2: Build your 3D athlete

Sign in and take one to three photos in tight training kit: a front photo, plus a side and a back photo if you can (the back photo only counts with a side photo). Stand in front of a plain wall in good light with your whole body in the frame. With your consent, the photos go to our 3D partner and come back as a model of you, usually within a few minutes, and we delete the photos as soon as the build finishes. Brands see their logo on this model before they pay.

  3. Step 3: Set up your page

Choose your name, page address, profile photo, country and a short bio. This is what brands see first, and you can change all of it later.

  4. Step 4: Verify your reach

Connect your social accounts. We read your followers and views, and where the platform shares it, where your audience is, straight from the platform. We never post for you. Your page shows a Verified badge per platform with when we last updated the numbers. You can skip this step, but your page then shows no verified numbers, and the suggested prices use a fixed, conservative level instead of your numbers.

  5. Step 5: Pick your race

Choose your race from the HYROX race calendar, or add your own with its name, city and date. The race has to be more than a week away, because bidding closes 7 days before race day. Choose how you'll wear the logos (temporary tattoos, printed on your kit, or both), the currency of your prices (euros or US dollars), and add a line about why this race matters to you.

  6. Step 6: Choose your spots and prices

Pick the areas of your body you want to sell: 9 areas with 16 spots in all. The chest, upper back, shoulders and quads are selected to start, because they show up in race photos. Each area gets a suggested opening price based on your verified reach, and you set the final prices.

  7. Step 7: Publish and share your page

Check the details and publish. From then on your page is public, and brands can find it and claim spots. Share the link where your audience and the brands you'd like to work with will see it.

  8. Step 8: Let brands take over spots

A brand buys an open spot at your opening price. Until bidding closes, any other brand can take that spot by paying 2× the current price, and the brand it replaces is refunded in full, minus card processing fees. Each logo appears on your page as soon as its payment goes through.

  9. Step 9: Arrange the prints when bidding closes

Bidding closes 7 days before your race at 20:00 UTC, so there is time to print. You see each sponsor's company name, logo and contact email, so you can arrange the tattoo or kit print with them.

  10. Step 10: Race, post your photos and get paid

On race day, wear every logo you sold where and as your page shows. Share race-day photos or videos that show each sponsor's logo, and mention your sponsors on your social channels. Brands' payments are held until your race is done and your race-day photos are posted. Then we pay you what the final sponsor of each spot paid, minus the SponsBody fee of 15%.

Suggested opening prices

We suggest an opening price for each area from the average views per post of your strongest verified account. Platforms are never added together: one audience seen on three apps is not three audiences. With verified reach, the chest suggestion rises with your views, from €50 to €2,500, and other areas are priced relative to the chest. These are only suggestions: you set the prices.

Questions athletes ask

How much does SponsBody take?

15% of what the final sponsor of each spot paid. We pay you the rest after your race, to the payout details you give us. You're responsible for the taxes on what you earn.

When do I get paid?

After your race is done and you've posted your race-day photos. Until then, brands' payments are held.

What happens if I can't race?

Tell us as soon as you know. We refund the sponsors affected, and you aren't paid for those spots. The same applies to a logo you've sold but can't wear.

Do I have to verify my reach?

No. Without a connected account your page shows no verified numbers, and the suggested prices start at a fixed, conservative level rather than from your numbers.

Are the tattoos permanent?

No. You choose temporary tattoos, which come off after the race, prints on your kit, or both.

What do HYROX's rules say about sponsor logos?

HYROX publishes its rulebooks at hyrox.com/rulebook. Its season 26/27 rulebooks for singles, doubles, relay and adaptive racing don't mention sponsor tattoos or sponsor logos. Its 2026/2027 participation terms that we read (France and the USA) say participants may not "promote or endorse any commercial activity" relating to a business that isn't contracted to HYROX or the local organiser, in connection with the event. Ask your event's organiser in writing before you sell spots. SponsBody is not affiliated with HYROX or any other race organiser.
