How Marc Lou sold his body for $112k at HYROX
Published · Updated
Summary: In September 2026 indie founder Marc Lou sold sponsorship spots on his body for his first HYROX race, in İzmir, Turkey. Brands bid in a public auction where every takeover doubled the price. When bidding closed, 15 spots had sold for $112,000 by his own account, his launch had drawn 1.5 million views in its first 23 hours, and on race day he finished 1st in his age group.
Marc ran the campaign on his own site, hyrox.marclou.com, under the name Sponsor My Body. The sponsormybody.com marketplace is a separate project that says it is not affiliated with him. SponsBody is not affiliated with HYROX.
How the auction worked
- He opened bidding on 10 of his muscles at $1,000 a spot. Each takeover doubled the price: $1,000, $2,000, $4,000 and so on.
- By the close the board had 15 spots, including a premium glutes spot added on 9 September. It opened at $10,000 and rose $5,000 per takeover.
- Outbid sponsors were refunded, minus the Stripe fee.
- Bidding closed at midnight UTC at the end of 10 September, eight days before the race, so there was time to print the tattoos.
- Each winning brand got its logo as a temporary tattoo on race day, a listing with a link on the campaign site, and a share on his YouTube and X accounts.

Why it worked
- A hook that needs no context: "I'm selling my body."
- Public takeovers: anyone could see who held each spot and at what price, and Marc posted as brands took spots, so the auction produced its own content.
- Obvious scarcity: a fixed number of spots and a hard deadline before race day.
- A story, not impressions: sponsors became part of a narrative his audience already followed.
- Existing distribution: about 403,000 followers on X when we checked on 1 October 2026, plus a YouTube channel.
What other athletes can expect
The $112,000 result is an outlier. It came with an audience of about 403,000 followers on X, and 60,207 people from 184 countries visited his auction page in under three days. Price from your own reach instead. For reference, SponsBody suggests opening prices from an athlete's verified reach: a chest spot opens at €130 for an athlete whose posts average 5,000 views, and at €500 for 20,000 views. Those are starting prices; takeovers raise them from there.
What SponsBody adds
SponsBody packages the same mechanic for any athlete: a 3D model of you made from one to three phone photos, a page where brands place their logo on a spot and take it over at 2× the current price, reach verified from your connected social accounts, bidding that closes 7 days before your race, and a refund for outbid brands, minus card processing fees. You choose temporary tattoos, kit prints or both, and arrange the print with each sponsor. The athlete guide walks through it step by step.
